Call FemPower Innovation 2009
The economic development scheme INNOVATION, initiated at the beginning of 2008, has been an additional form of financial support provided by ZIT for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vienna. An initial analysis has shown that the share of women with co-responsibility for project development is very low, even in the case of innovation projects with a close proximity to the marketplace. This is similar to the situation in industrial research.

Call Patients In Focus 2009
The Call Patients in Focus 2009 targeted Viennese companies implementing patient-oriented research and development projects in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceutics, hospital infrastructure or medical technology. This broad focus takes account of the comprehensive approach of Vienna’s health care policies, and is designed to support developments contributing to a further improvement in the quality of health care.
Up until the closing date on February 19, 2009, 34 Viennese companies filed applications for 36 different projects. In the light of the outstanding quality of many of these projects, the original budget of EUR 2 million available for the call was increased to almost EUR 3 million. As a result, financial support could be provided to the ten best projects identified by the jury.
