ZIT promotes corporate research and development (R&D)
This program provides support to research and development projects of Vienna-based companies and company founders (start-ups), and is carried out in the forms of tender processes (calls). Each call (competition for funding) has a specific thematic focus. Generally speaking, calls are not limited to individual technological fields, but are open to projects from all technological fields within the framework of a structural objective (e.g. health or ecology). Two or three calls are usually carried out per year.
Calls are designed to promote product, service and process innovations.
ZIT implements specific tenders which primarily focus on the following structural issues: health, ecology, communications, cooperation, women in corporate research and development.
The basic prerequisites for funding are as follows:
- In order to be eligible for funding, the projects must at least fulfill the criteria of the European Union in respect to experimental development.
- The projects directly or indirectly lead to product or process innovations, and also have favorable perspectives as regards potential economic or commercial exploitation (business model).
- A significant proportion of the project is implemented by the company or organization responsible for the project, which also assumes the related risk.
