ZIT promotes strategic innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The strategic and ongoing emphasis on innovation comprises a key prerequisite for increasing a company’s competitiveness. In particular, SMEs are confronted with a broad spectrum of challenges in their efforts to implement innovations which go above and beyond their day-to-day business operations.
For this reason, this support program assists SMEs in carrying out investment projects i.e. in the conception and subsequent implementation of new or considerably improved products, services or processes. Financial assistance may be provided for innovations in production companies as well as for service providers. There are also no limitations in respect to the type of innovation. Funding is available for product (including service products), process and organizational innovations.
The basic prerequisites determining the eligibility for funding are as follows:
- The innovation project must not be an isolated or single activity (e.g. the acquisition of a new machine without more far-reaching changes in the company), but should involve a bundle of measures, including conceptual work.
- The innovation project is integrated into a comprehensive, medium or long-term innovation strategy impacting the entire company.
- The innovation project will at least bring the company up to par with the most advanced and sophisticated comparable companies.
Important note!
Corporate research projects are not eligible for funding within the framework of this program! For such projects, please refer to specific funding programs designed to support research and development (e.g. the ZIT “RESEARCH“ program; funding granted by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency - FFG).
