Opportunities opened by ZIT grants
Within the framework of ZIT’s different funding programs – INNOVATION, COMMUNICATION, COOPERATION and KNOWLEDGE – you can continuously submit your projects online. Decisions are made on a quarterly basis. In addition, invitations are also announced to take part in topic-oriented tender competitions for funding, or “calls”. These are announced separately. Applications for grants can be filed up until a pre-defined deadline. The final decision on funding is made 2-3 months after the closing date.
The RESEARCH program is exclusively comprised of funding competitions focusing on specified topics, based on the same approach as in the INNOVATION program.
We promote the best minds.
Innovation promotion for Vienna 2008 - 2011.
Technology and innovation promotion is more than just simple project or corporate financing. ZIT has developed a comprehensive program of promotion and funding measures which takes into account the special characteristics of the Viennese economy as well as the specific requirements of innovative companies which conduct research.
The financial incentives offered by ZIT are granted in accordance with the following principles:
Prioritize the social relevance of research and technology.
The development of innovative technological solutions to challenges faced by society as a whole (e.g. ecology, health) is supported within the framework of research promotion by emphasizing specified thematic focuses. Measures contributing to increasing public awareness and understanding of the importance of research and technology are promoted by a specific promotional program (COMMUNICATION).
Appeal to a broad target group.
ZIT’s funding and support programs are particularly tailored to the large number of innovative small and medium-sized companies in Vienna.
Support development potential.
The funding provided aims to sustainably strengthen the research and innovation-orientation of companies.
Take Vienna’s economic structure into consideration.
In particular, improved offers are now available for service providers.
Coordinate the portfolio of support programs with promotional measures offered by other economic development organizations.
We purposefully develop supplementary offers in order to avoid duplication.
Improve the structural prerequisites for innovative behavior.
The organizational and structural starting point of companies is improved by supporting the development of cooperation structures and knowledge management measures.
The target group for ZIT funding programs
ZIT’s existing technology promotion program ZIT08 offers a comprehensive spectrum of measures. We primarily target innovative Vienna-based companies and entrepreneurs starting up companies. Other potential recipients (e.g. research facilities) can be provided with support if they actively work together with or on behalf of Viennese firms.
Type of funding
ZIT provides direct cash grants from funds supplied by the City of Vienna.
