A lot more than just a ticket is needed to take a train. “Everybody notices when something does not work. However, all the things required to make sure that the rail system functions is not so evident to people”, says Ruth Hierzer, Secretary General of the association Rail Technology Cluster Austria (RTCA). The general public is hardly aware of the fact that Austria has a disproportionately strong railway industry, and many more operators than just Austrian Railways ÖBB).
